Counselor & 504 Building Coordinator
esbarry@seattleschools.org*Viewlands hours: Mondays, Thursdays, alternate Wednesdays*
I started working at Viewlands in 2021 and am thrilled to continue on again this year! I feel lucky to work with this amazing community of staff, students and families. As a half-time counselor, I work one-on-one with students who need extra support, run small groups, and teach classroom lessons on problem solving and SEL (social-emotional learning). I serve all students at the school and any student can contact me to check-in as needed. Feel free to contact me by email with any questions or concerns you have about your student!
Special Education Teacher
hmcartner@seattleschools.orgHeather joined the Lawton community in 2018 supporting special education students as a paraeducator. She completed her teaching certificate in 2021 and was lucky enough to be offered a teaching position on Lawton’s Special Education team.
Teaching is a career change for Heather, she completed a BA in History and a Master of Library and Information Studies in New Zealand, where she grew up, and has previously worked in academic, law, and medical libraries in both New Zealand and Australia. Heather and her family moved to Seattle in 2014 and while volunteering at her kids’ schools Heather reignited an interest in teaching and supporting students.
When not at school, Heather can be found reading, playing computer games, gardening, and spending time with her loud and geeky family.
