Heather joined the Lawton community in 2018 supporting special education students as a paraeducator. She completed her teaching certificate in 2021 and was lucky enough to be offered a teaching position on Lawton’s Special Education team. Teaching is a career change for Heather, she completed a BA in History and a Master of Library and Information Studies in New Zealand, where she grew up, and has previously worked in academic, law, and medical libraries in both New Zealand and Australia. Heather and her family moved to Seattle in 2014 and while volunteering at her kids’ schools Heather reignited an interest in teaching and supporting students. When not at school, Heather can be found reading, playing computer games, gardening, and spending time with her loud and geeky family.
Kristina has been working in the Lawton front office since 2018. She genuinely enjoys making spreadsheets, cringes when she catches a typo after pressing send, and can still occasionally earn her way to the serving position in four-square. Kristina joyfully accepts coffee and book recommendations whenever they are offered. When not in the office, she keeps herself busy hiking, traveling, and teaching communication and productivity workshops.
